Good Friday

He sent his only son to be tortured and nailed upon a cross...Alive! that you and I would be saved.  I can't even fathom what it would be like to offer up my child knowing what pain and suffering he would endure.  That he would endure due to other's wrongdoings.  As a mother it is born into me to nurture and protect my children from any wrongdoing, physical or mental.  God's love for us is beyond measure.  I am in awe of what He has done and continues to do day after day for me.  It brings to mind that saying of "to the world you may just be one person, but to one person, you are the world".  He is my world.  Each and every one of us He loved so deeply, so genuinely that He sacrificed His own flesh and blood.  Jesus took what we deserved.

After a long stressful day, how comforting is it to come home and have your spouse insist you sit down and relax as they rub the tension from your shoulders?  Or having a good friend ask how they can help when they see you've taken on more than you can handle.  Think about how refreshing it is when you take them up on their offer to ease your burden and lessen your stress/anxiety.  This is what God is waiting and longing for us to allow Him to do in our lives.  He wants to know our burdens and daily struggles.  What He is asking us to do is such a simple thing once you actually trust in Him and like the Nike folks say, "Just Do It"!  Surrender.  Just simply surrender.  All of it.  Seek Him and He will be right there waiting to take your burdens.

His love is that deep and pure.  As I draw closer to Jesus and seek a deeper relationship with the Lord, sin has become so much easier to see.  It is everywhere.  Right and wrong are so very distinguished from one another.  While, it tempts me daily I continue to grow stronger.  I awake each morning feeling cleansed and refreshed.  Each night I confess my sins and shortcomings to Him and He listens.  Of course He already knows where I've fallen short, but He seeks to hear me acknowledge and be accountable for my sins.  If I come to Him with a pure heart and seek forgiveness He will always be there for me.  He washes & He cleanses.  Not because I have earned this...He does it because He loves me.  He loves us so much that He spared us of what we deserved.

Numerous times I have sung this song and every time I wonder the meaning of this line.  How could God be "jealous for me"?  What does this mean??  It's we as mortal people that have taken this word and made it an unpleasant thing.  The world jealous instantly brings to mind the color green, the desire to want what someone else has.  No one wants this word to be used in the same sentence as their name...except for God.  God's jealousy is a strong desire to protect the relationship and love that only He has and can provide.  I can't even begin to put a finger on or wrap my mind around the instense desire He has for a relationship with me, a mere dirty sinner.  I will never be worthy of this relationship.  Yet, He continues daily to protect and nurture my desire to seek Him daily.

Be Still

I am reminded daily that words come so freely to me.  I often speak off emotions and do not take the time to be silent and process my thoughts and feelings.  Only after I have spoken do I stop to question whether my words or actions bring glory to Him.  When a text is sent, it's often out of hurry and the quicker I can type and get my message sent, the better.  Yet again, only after I have hit the send button do I stop to read over my message.  More times than not, it's full of typos and errors and perhaps even filled with words I regret having used.  Today I pray that you, Lord, will help me to strengthen my patience in this area.  Please let the words of my mouth become a direct reflection of the meditation of my heart.  Let me be still when I am eager to react.  Let your mercy be an example to me daily.  Draw me near, Lord.

Let's Begin

An overwhelming sense and need to love on God's people has been driving me lately.  I've been blessed to have this placed upon my heart.  What better way to love my God than to love his people?  Through my journey of drawing closer to the Lord, I've learned when God speaks to you, it can be so subtle and if you happen to miss it, he will tell you again and again until you cannot mistake his message.
